Yorkshire is well served when it comes to official Jellycat stockists. From specialist teddy bear shops in York's medieval centre to independent department stores in Sheffield, there are verified options right across the county.

It is worth knowing that Jellycat dropped roughly 100 UK independent shops in mid-2025 as part of a "brand elevation" exercise. Several Yorkshire retailers were affected, including Bigwicks in Barnsley and Rumours in Whitby. The shops below all showed strong evidence of active Jellycat stock as of early 2026.

York

Stonegate Teddy Bears

Housed in a 15th-century building on one of York's oldest paved streets, Stonegate Teddy Bears at 13 Stonegate (53.9612, -1.0828) has been selling soft toys since 1990. They have a dedicated Jellycat brand page and are described in reviews as "a genuine Stockist of JellyCats." The shop also carries Charlie Bears and Steiff, making it a one-stop destination for plush collectors.

Mary Shortle

The iconic shop front at 9 Lord Mayor's Walk (53.9634, -1.0793) has been a York landmark since 1977. Mary Shortle stocks an extensive Jellycat range including current lines and a retired Jellycat archive section for collectors. They also carry Steiff, Charlie Bears, and collectible dolls.

The shop sits at the Blackledge entrance to the courtyard (53.7259, -1.8614) and also stocks Steiff, Miffy, and Charlie Bears.

Harveys of Halifax

Harveys is an independent department store on Commercial Street (53.7231, -1.8594), trading since 1920, with a dedicated Jellycat collection in their gift department on the first floor. A well-established local institution and a good option if you are already visiting the Piece Hall nearby.

Sheffield

Atkinsons

Atkinsons is a family-owned independent department store on The Moor (53.3752, -1.4701) with a dedicated Jellycat page on their website. Their TripAdvisor listing was active as of 2026, and as a larger established retailer they are a reliable option for finding Jellycat in South Yorkshire.

Shops That Lost Jellycat in 2025

A few Yorkshire retailers were publicly identified as having been dropped during the mid-2025 brand elevation:

  • Bigwicks (Barnsley) stated on their website they would not restock once current inventory sold out.
  • Rumours (Whitby) was dropped after stocking Jellycat for over 20 years.
  • Cool! Cards and Gifts (Skipton) closed its physical shop in late 2024.

If you are heading to Whitby or Skipton specifically for Jellycat, it is worth knowing there is no verified stockist in either town as of early 2026.

Before You Visit

Always check a shop's website or ring ahead before making a special journey. The seven shops listed above all had verifiable Jellycat stock as of early 2026, but product ranges rotate and availability is never guaranteed. York offers the widest choice with two dedicated shops within walking distance of each other.
